Hi

I have recently started to offer Professional Party Photographs for Kids, i.e. I set up a portable studio and take photos of all the guests (most are under 18.).

At the party I give out cards with the URL and a unique password. After the shoot, I put all the photos onto the password protected site for party goers and their parents to look at and purchase images.

If I want to use any photos for promotional purposes I first get the parent or guardian to sign a model release form for their child.

The UK Data Protection act is very vague about photography and children. Local Councils, schools etc. are VERY strict and obtain consent prior to the photo being taken, which is fair enough as they would be looking to use it for promotional purposes, but I however just want to allow people whom have the password to see the images.

The question is do you think I have done enough (legally or not) as a Professional Photographer to protect the children I photograph?

Who knows Paul?
In this paranoid age I'd guess only a lawyer could even come close to an answer.
Personally I think that you're doing all you could reasonably be expected to do, but then I'm not a lawyer!

Thankyou for your comments, I'm not after a legal response as such, just some comments like yours.
