View Full Version : Some Intense Iridescent clouds

Thought these types of clouds where a bit on the rare side, I have seen them roughly a dozen times so far over the past month and a half! Some really close to the sun and makes shooting them a bit of a challange because you can easily blow things out, like I did a bit earlier in the day.
I do think I am a tad underexposed here, but that does help bring the colors of the clouds out even more (that and a circular polarizer)

Sorry if the pic is too large.
One thing that really crossed my mind today while shooting was wishing I had an ultra wideangle lens

I like it, but it still seems a little bit flat to me. Maybe bump the contrast and saturation a little?

Tell you what...My image editing says "OK" so knock your self out and let me see what you can do with this. Who knows, I may have stopped too early or maybe just afraid to push things in CS3 :D

Jeff , very nice . Have you sent it to spaceweather ?
Bernoulli : you over saturated it , colors need to be soft like a rainbow effect .

Congrats on an awesome capture Allen. I'll bet Spaceweather will dig this.
Great job.

You missed Ron's (Celestron's) post didnt you :)
Too much saturation makes it look pretty bad, but thats my opinion.
The important thing is, me being the one with the camera in hand at the time, I got what I wanted out of the shot :D (although I wish I could have found the other step ring so I could have placed the 67mm circular polarizer on the 24mm lens).
I did however, do some minor saturation and contrast boosting... if anyone wants to see that, its right here:

And I am still waiting to see what spaceweather has to say.... so far, nothing :(
