Hit a couple of my favorite spots for shooting GA today:

Awesome shots. How far away are the mountains? Pics seem really clear for the haze in the back ground.

That second shot is great. The pilot did a good job of centering himself on the runway, and being perfectly level just for you. Nice Job as always, Jay!

Brilliant
I like #3, the three separate prop blurs are almost perfectly aligned with the aircraft.... eh you get what I mean.

Looking at the first three in quick succession, all I can think is "DUCK!!!!"

Very cool, now, if it was only a Mustang.

The mountains in the background are probably about 20 to 25 miles away. We've had a pretty "wet" winter and as such, the brown cloud has been held down somewhat.

Thanks... I'd like to think his tracking the centerline was due to good piloting (I've learned through some research that the registered owner is an airline pilot) but I'll take advantage of his ability! ;)

Thanks very much. How 'bout that on the prop, eh? I'll take lucky over good any day.

I'm sure the pilot was getting a chuckle out of trying to "flat hat" me but I'd have had the last laugh if he got too low. The fence I was shooting through is at least three feet taller than me. The WOOSH going over was pretty cool though!

Very cool, now, if it was only a Mustang.

I wish I could make contact with the guy who keeps his at this airport. It's this one that I've posted before and happens to also be my avatar:

He also owns the Twin Beech that's sprinkled around my PBase...

Great shots! #2, #2, #2!

Thanks, Thanks, Thanks... :D

great shots! very scary on first three, but that's funny you can see a person in the third pic with a p&s. looks like they're aiming at you :-P

At first glance it looks like there are winglets and they point down. It's just the angle of the pic, looks normal in the 3rd pic. #2 had me going what on earth?

Mike pointed that out. I didn't see it at first. I hope I can get a print for a print from the pilot.

I may be wrong but I think this C210 has LoPresti speed mods on it which includes the pronounced round down on the wingtips.

Jay :D those are awesome, you could even upload Number 2 & 3 to Airliners ;)

Thanks but I'm sure they'd find some reason to reject it...

Thanks. Classic Beech product. I could watch one all day...

Great stuff, i'd say, if you can do that again, throw a flash in the cockpit.

While on the ground, shoot from about the same distance with the pilot in the cockpit, set up the speedlights up in the cockpit to distribute the light how you want it. Throw a remote on it. That'd make that even more amazing. Perhaps closer to dusk.

There is a strobist article with a heli like this. Amazing stuff.

This was not a set up photo shoot. I just happened to be there shooting and the C210 pilot decided he wanted to play along.

Nice work, Jay, especially the low pass and the King Air. Good prop blur with clear focus. What more is there?

Really nice looking 210! When my dad takes delivery of his 162 I may have to try and do a shoot like this! May have to pull some serious strings

I'd love to see those shots. I got a couple of "taxi by" images of the Skycatcher at the '06 AOPA Convention in Palm Springs:

Great shots! Mind me asking which airport that is? I work up near Falcon Field, and was thinking about trying my hand at some GA photography.

Hi Gig...

The C210 was at the Stellar airpark. The Super Cub and King Air were shot at Chandler.

I need to investigate locations around Falcon one of these days.

Thanks Much...

The MU-2 is a sweet looking aircraft that unfortunately has gotten a bad rap as a pilot killer.

yep, i read into it a bit when my buddy was training for it. He was an instructor out west for a couple years flying cessnas and getting his hours up in everything, and getting every rating possible. He was a little concerned about it's history. From what i read it was more often then not a problem with maintainence and mostly developed on take off / slow speeds, as it doesn't glide to well :).

They work for a private company working for the gov't lifting people out of the far north and bringing them to a real hospital ie. the other night brought someone out of a town that doesn't have a doctor really, the guy had broken his femur in multiple places.

He does enjoy flying the "hotrod" of the fleet, cruising at 300 nautical MPH, (if i remember correctly)

Interesting... I do think the MU-2 is very easy on the eyes. Kinda "short coupled" if you know what I mean but it just looks "right."
