The guys opened for 90's rock band Dada("Dizz Nee Land") last night at the Hard Rock Cafe. Place was packed. Sold out. Hot as hell inside(80 degrees-ish), cold as ice outside (20 Degrees-ish).

This is round 2 with my new 50D and Sigma 24-70. All ISO 1250, f2.8 and shutter around 1/160. You'll remember last time, I took the ISO up to 2000 or 2500 or something and shot f/5.6 or higher. I like the results this time better.

More at my flickr. http://www.flickr.com/photos/londonblue007/sets/72157612052595853/

1 - This was the closest to the center and front I could get. The place was PACKED! The rest of my shots are from the sides of the stage, or from on stage left.

3 - Live View is awesome. From Side Stage Right, Held over my head to get the angle.

4 I have another just like this, but I think I like this one better. The other one is here: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3235/3162801129_3a9391c216_b.jpg

5 - not sure if they are better, but some other options are http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3110/3163790334_002287e772_b.jpg and http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3109/3162961097_802ee7f3ec_b.jpg

6 Dave was walking by Drew in this shot, but it looks like dueling guitars, so thats fine by me =)

7 - Dave J brought his Rock Star Sunglasses with him. A fine toss of the glasses from off stage from me to him and we get this one.

8 - Matty Beals on Bass. I like the action in the background the most I think. I think it could use a crop from the left and top, thoughts?

I find this to be pretty good action, throughout the entire set... Not easy to time it this well... Here and there, the mikes, got in the way... but overall, that's the nature of this beast...

Would it have made a difference if you took 1000 pictures that night?

Very nice set! The toughest thing after poor light is the inability to move around ... you did well with this.

Thanks John.

I shot 500-ish. I would have taken more, but only so many you can take in 30 minutes while trying to move around too.

for me 2,6 and 8(if cropped as you noted) came out nice.

Looks like a tough venue to get the images you wanted for sure.
Sometimes we just have to deal with it.

500 shots in 30 minutes ......you must have been all over it:D

If it was easy..............everybody would do it:D

Thanks for sharing your hard work with us. Good Job!!

photoshop CS3. No saturation adjustments. Just a slight increase in exposure and fill light in Camera Raw to brighten the subject, but not too much since I want the black's to stay black.

I've been very impressed with the 50D. Definitely worth the upgrade from the XTi.

Thanks!

personally, 500 in 30 minutes isn't that much... only 16-ish a minute. I shoot that in burst mode in just a few seconds....

now, 400 pictures of the Police in the first 2 songs... that is a lot!
