Defective Westcott Umbrella?

Just got a Westcott 43" umbrella and thought it was defective because it wouldn't lock in position until I realized it had a telescoping piece inside the shaft that was blocking the lock. duh.

I just look at mine, it look exactly like yours. The locking hole is on the metal shaft itself. Could be you didn't push it up high enough?
