hello everyone!

I've long wanted to try out HDR and since I had a free Saturday, I figured, why not today!

Here's a few shots of some guitars. I did these all in Photomatix from multiple exposures. XSI with a kit lens on some, XSi with a Nifty Fifty on some too.

I didn't want to overdo it, so here are some shots. C&C always appreciated.

The shots look good and certainly not overdone like some I have seen. It would be interesting to see the originals for comparison.

Thanks hawykeye! Actually, my workflow is pretty crappy at this point... I think I may have deleted the originals now that I'm going looking! dang... I'll see if i can find any.

Thanks for the compliment. I appreciate the encouragement!

i like the first Les Paul and the SG looks good except it needs to be better composed. Although these were test shots.. i understand. What year is the strat? is it a real fender?? Looks like you robbed Pete Townsends house..lol

Thanks Zacker. Yeah, the composition on some these are pretty rough.. test shots or not, looking at them again there's no reason I couldn't do a test shot of a better composition!

Yep, that's a real fender. Here's the "proof"!

My wife gave it to me the week before we got married. I had a strat just like it in college that I had to sell to pay for books. She surprised me with this one.

These are just a few of my guitars, I've always wanted to take a few shots of them.

Thinking about ways to photography my guitars, I like yours! Nice work. Would have liked to see a bit more body color in all of them. The burst finish of the strat is all but lost somehow.

Looks like a goldtop LP, a walnut finish on the SG maybe? Could be why I always opt for the vintage white, Daphne Blue and Fiesta Red copies! I'll try to shoot and post some pics of my strats soon.

Thanks for the ideas!

Right on Dave! Yeah, the colors are too dark. I got a new monitor last week and haven't calibrated it as I don;t have the tools. It is MUCH brighter than what I am used too, so I'm finding I am processing the pictures too dark, which makes the colors mute a bit.

Yup, a 2001 LP Goldtop Standard and a Faded SG special.

he got it from his uncle when he was like 12 and had it ever since... he was offered like $1700.00 for it back in the early 80's but liked it too much to sell. Dont know if he still has it, the last time i saw it was right after High School when he had the Pick ups re-wound.. and that was 1983!! it was a beauty.

He was smart not to let it go for that.... It's worth many times that now if it is all original and in playable shape. He should at least get it insured! Next time you see him, give him a heads up. I believe those are among the most sought after vintage guitars on the market right now!

Thanks for sharing that... cool story.

The headstock on your '70s' looks like a newer reissue. Is it an RI or an incredibly clean copy of a true 70s strat?

I have two CS Heavy Relic '69s that are my main players due to my current gig. It would be pretty tough to find a 70s headstock in as pristine a condition as the one in your photo.

Oh, it's a newwer reissue.. not a 70's. Sorry if I implied that it was. It just has the 70's style headstock. This is a 2007 Fender Highway One Strat. I really like the big chunky 70's headstock, and as much as I'd like to own the original, this strat was incredibly affordable and plays very well. It's not my main gig guitar, but it could be in a pinch!

I bet your CS Heavy Relics are gorgeous! Any pics? Wahat awesome gig do you have that has you bring alon 2 CS relics? Sounds like fun!
