With that kind of zoom range and at a constant F4, I would expect the lens should be bigger. Bigger than the 500L. :)

....for that matter perhaps even bigger than the 800L, which is just huge.

I own a 500 f4, saw an 800 at the Obama rally in Chicago, holy mackrel Batman that thing is big!!!

Even bigger :D.

It would have a front element of at least 200 mm in diameter, which would make it the heaviest lens available, even heavier than the Sigzilla 200-500 F/2.8, which only has a front element of about 180 mm, but is a lot shorter.
