you got Ira and Georgia but where's James in that last photo?

the new 5D shots look really clean. who opened for this show?

He wasn't hanging out really, on stage he wasn't too active either...I was waiting for him to warm to the crowd but he never did. Ira was really nice and very humble I must say - seemed like a chill guy to hang out with =)

It's very clean;) umm some band I never heard of, they where pretty bad (not to be mean - very young too) but the Feelies played half the night F'in AMAZING!!

that's funny that you said the Feelies played...in the shot where Ira's chilling, i was tempted to guess that the blurred out bass player looked like brenda sauter.

YLT is a quality band; have seen 'em close to 10 or so times i'd bet.

First time I've heard the feelies play. Lead guitarist kicks ASS! He was freakin amazing and had so much energy. more in his 50 year old body than most 25 yr olds;)

The first and last shot are my picks from this set... Maybe more cropping, and some exposure adjustment from RAW might make a difference?

Thanks! They all where shot using live view to get the camera up over everyones heads...also to make SURE the shots are dead on

Thanks man! Very much so, I wish the outer points were better but what can you do lol

What kind of difference would you like to see from exposure adjustment? any input is alway appreciated

Interesting ... pictures and discussion.

That happens in a lot of my threads...I look at this forum as a community and welcome any kind of conversing lol ;)

now that's impressive.

can you still see the LCD clearly enough, at arm's length, to make these sorts of adjustments? or do you use the distance scale at all? i'm curious.

also, what venue did they play?

Haha well I've been shooting live view for over a year on my 40D with landscape and although I'm not use to moving subjects it only took a couple shots for me to be able to nail it every time haha ;)...Arms length...I would compose and move the magnifier square thing and then zoom to 10X and focus as the movement occurred...I was usually at 3200 1.8 and 1/200ths the whole time so I wasn't afraid of blur at all

But yeah thanks man :):) They played at wellmonte in montclair, nj

Wally... it sounds like you must have tweaked the images in RAW... I was hoping for a chance that you didn't, and that there is still room for slight exposure adjustments...

If there is a slightly overexposed lighted area from a stage shot, and/or areas are too dark without many tones....Than I also adjust the exposure, like you did, and occasionally try to reduce the contrast in RAW...

Than I try to recover or expose as many middle tones as possible... I try to use the shadow and highlight adjustments and even fill flash... It doesn't always improve the image... But sometimes and surprisingly, middle tones surface that add a considerable depth to the image... All it takes is time, but there is no guarantee that it will improve the picture...Though it might be worth a try.

Excellent input!

I only do slight tweaking in RAW when shooting at high ISO...I usually expose to the right which I have done in most of these...I then bring it back...I never ever use fill flash on high ISO images as it adds a lot noise...so does shadow/highlight. I like them to be as clean as I can get them without using NR as I don't have any software for that at the moment. I will try in a couple of these to bring out more mid tones and see how much I can pull without sacrificing IQ

But again there would be room for adjustment as these have barely been touched much at all accept for a little curves afterward and sharpening
