I'm thinking about makeing a big print of this and was just wondering if there is any thing I could do with it to help it before printing it ?

A tighter crop would be nice. Also, I'd like to see just a tiny bit more detail in his face.

Thats fine juicebox. Thats what I wanted to hear. I want to blow it to 22x28 inches. I'm not sure how much I can crop and still blow it that far.

Yeah, that's a fairly big print. What was the original shot at?

Might try desaturating the bg a bit. It may be a chore to work around the antlers; but it will help separate him better. I think you are stretching the limits trying to go that big in a print though. You'll need a lot of sharpening first and even then I don't think you'll like it. But let us know how it turns out. I stop at A3 size 11x17 for my big prints from my 40D.

The picture is 3504 x 2336. Has any one had much luck blowing this to say a 22x28 inch print ?

jd,
I use a 40D, and even when I used my 20D, I easily cropped in on images and enlarge them to 16x20 all the time. I do have one image from my 40D that I printed as a 20x30 with no problem whatsoever, I could have even gone larger. If you use your imaging software and crop your image to 22x28, what is the resulting pixels/inch? If it isn't any lower than 72 than you should still get a decent print.
I agree that you need to crop in a little, and I would try to remove all the dead branches on the ground behind him, as it is competing for attention from his antlers.
It is always hard to judge an image that has been sized down for the web, but I think you have great detail on the elk and this should be a beauty blown up to the size you want.
