I finally got my newly 9 year old in the studio for the yearly pictures.. Usually he makes goofy faces in all his pictures, but this time he did very well ! Let me know what you think!

I think these are great. The lighting looks perfect.
Can you share your set up for this shot? What each light metered at. I struggle with my white backdrop.

Thanks
Kathleen

I think they will be better with clothing to match the bg. Dark clothes don't work well with white bg. Just my opinion.

Three shots, three completely different moods and they're all very nice. Hopefully this is a start of a willing subject who won't make (bad) goofy faces. First one is a great photograph, and the third one I think is the best of his personality.

Thanks! I have a three light set up. 2 800 ABs on the background metered at f/11 and 1 400AB to camera right metered for f/8 then I have a reflector to the left. I don't usually have to do much editing to the picture as far as exposure goes.

What? I wasn't going for a highkey look or anything... I wanted him to stand out and be vibrant and colorful

Great work, love the clarity focus is great everywhere. He does look older than 9, I wouldn't be surprised if he was 20-30 actually judging by the face. Its kind of weird to look at but who am I to judge, I've been told I have a very boyish face and am often mistaken to be a teenager :(

Thanks Kajuah, wow, 20-30?? haha.. he just turned 9 on dec. 26th. He is taller than most kids his age. He looks like a mini version of his dad.. his sister looks much older than her age also.. she's a few post down under "Miss 11" and she turns 11 this week!
