I'm wanting to get my 430ex off my camera so I know I need a sync cord. I'm assuming that this one is all that I need, right?

Thanks in advance.

No sir. You are incorrect.
What you need is an "off camera shoe cord" which can be found here.

edit: I would get the upgraded Canon OC-E3 off camera shoe cord, mainly because it has weather sealing to protect your on camera hot shoe and it has a lock in and not a twist in for the camera hot shoe.
That is the review of it, and I believe you can retain ETTL with that cord.

Hope this helps
