I'm use to outdoor shooting (landscape and sports) but with our newborn being born a few days ago I'm looking forward to indoor shooting. I just ordered a Canon 550ex and will be putting my nifty fifty to good use going forward. The toughest thing I'm finding is getting use to the thin DOF. Luckily I have a long time to experiment w/my new son Payson.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. :D

What lens would you all recommend for newborn portrait photography? I think my nifty fifty is ok but hunts a lot and was curious about the 50mm 1.4 or 85mm 1.8.

(a) Congrats! He's beautiful!

(b) #2 is just adorable. Love that face.

(c) With the flash, the nifty is just fine. The DOF won't be so thin.
