Portraits - frame or crop afterwards

Wondering if there is a general consensus, preference when taking portraits. Do most people frame what they want, or take a bit more of the subject / background and computer-crop afterwards?
(Mainly asking about indoor "studio" shots)
EDIT: Oh yeah, would you for instance shoot in landsacpe and crop to portrait (don't know why you would, but curious!) :)

I wouldn't worry too much. Just do what feel good, there is no right or wrong. You have to crop anyway if you want different size prints, isn't it? The camera is 2:3 format but 5x7, 8x10, 16x20, 11x14 etc aren't
