Moab Monsoons
Two Dates: July 25, 2009 or August 22, 2009
Monsoonal weather arrives in July and August, teasing photographers with rainwater filled potholes catching crystalline reflections of arches and sandstone spires. Afternoon storms break before sunset and fill the sky with dramatic clouds floating in a sea of cobalt blue. It is an amazing time to photograph the Moab area in dramatic and ephemeral conditions.
We’ll start the day photographing sunrise reflections in Arches before heading for a shaded canyon running with a perennial creek. With a watchful eye on the weather we will head back to Arches, or possibly Canyonlands, to finish the day photographing a bold sunset. Obviously, reflections and cloud filled skies are not guaranteed, though they are highly likely given the typical monsoonal weather patterns in July & August.
Both workshops are open to photographers working at any level and are limited to 5 participants each.
