I'm new to photography, criticism please?

A little too close for my tastes, especially given his positioning. I have cats so I know kitty may be comfortable, but my first reaction was to draw back slightly from the pictures. There's some lack of sharpness in #1, and I suspect camera shake and/or missed focus in #2. I'd suggest increasing your shutter speed. Keep at it, and pet the cat!
