I now have a powershot S2, A520, A570, A590 and 3 Pentex W10 waterproof.

When I had just the S2 and A520, the zoom browser/camera window software would download the JPG and MOV files from the Pentex camera.

Since then I have had to upgrade the Canon software to use the A570 and A590.

Now the the canon download software will not see the MOV files on the Pentex.

I no longer have the canon disk that came with the S2, but I borrowed an older one ver17.1, and loaded it fresh, it will not see the MOV files ??

Funny thing is zoom browser sees and edits MOV files on the computer !!

I NEED card reader/downloader software that creates and puts pictures in dated files (and only new pictures that are not on the compter allready).

How can I get the canon software to see the MOV files on the sd card ??

Thanks,

Nick

Canon videos are .AVI files; pick up a card reader, they're cheap and you'll be able to use your OS to transfer the Pentax videos.

Problem is the card reader and the OS will not sort through the pics on the camera, create dated folders, and only transfer the pictures that are not allready on the computer.

Bottom line is with the canon software, you plug in the USB cable and click ONE button and it is all done for you.

My wife and daughter are not "computer programers", they are not going to be able to: open 2 windows, compare every file on the camera against every file in "my pictures", check the date stamp on evey file on the camera, create dated folders in "my pictures", get the correct files in the correct folders.

Problem is, the canon software ONLY sees JPG files on mem cards.

You want the Canon software to transfer files of type .MOV. But Canon cameras don't take .MOV files. The files associated with video on a current Canon PowerShot are of type .AVI and .THM. Why should Canon develop software for downloading files from a Pentax?

If you seriously want a software package that will support both Canon and Pentax cameras, be prepared to spend some money on a third-party solution. For a variety of reasons, I use Breeze Systems (http://www.breezesys.com/)' Downloader Pro for downloading, tagging and filing my files. It will do what you want, once you have it set up; it'll keep the different cameras' files separated if you want as well (even if you have 2 of the same model).
