Do any of you have any experience with the Tokina 19-35 3.5-4.5? I'm looking to upgrade my 18-55 kit lens and would like to know if you even consider this an upgrade?
The main things I'm looking for a build quality, focussing adjustment and wide open performance (relative to the kit lens). If this isn't recommended I could hold off for another few months for something like the Sigma 18-50 2.8 but ideally I'd like something straight away (holidays coming up !!) :)

I tried one out today at the store and the build is good, focussing is good and it comes with a petal hood. It's also about half the price of the Tamron 17-35 2.8-4 and Sigma 18-50 2.8

Ok, I'll bite. First let me say I have not heard of this lens.

If it were me, I would not get it because it covers a smaller range and does not offer any 'low light' benefits (large aperture). I would use the kit lens and save up for a better, or more versatile lens later.

With that said, if you like it and will be happy with it, then get it. :)

Cheers!

That's what i repalced to cheap Canon kitted lens with and it's great.
