trying the studio thing. iam using a 5x7 Botero Background, two Sp Excalibur3200 Studio strobes, one with a 45" shoot threw umbrella and the other with a 28" Octegon Softbox.my friend's wife wanted me to take some picture's of there kid, so i said sure why not i need to learn (pratice).took some shots and i gave them a couple of 8x10's and 4x6.she was very happy and best part for them is that i did this for free.Iam not a pro by anymeans iam just a newbie/hobbyist looking too have some fun with this and what ever comes out it fine by me.
here's one of the picture's. please critique / comment. this is what make's us better

wow over 40 views and only one reply . i would like any type of critique good or bad , thats how we learn .

I'd call it studio quality work. The lighting looks good, no offensive shadows. Caught a pretty good expression on her face, nice catch lights in the eyes and the pose is fairly natural for child that age.

The only criticism I have of it is that it is pretty standard, in other words there's no wow factor to it. However, give the portrait nature of it that's not necessarily a bad tihng. Often that's what the subject or customer would want. Trying to add wow to it could backfire and cause an unhappy situation.

Nice work in my very humble opinion.

Nice photo. Seems a little dark to me...just a little and the cut off of the bear on the left could have been avoided.
