I'm looking to rent preferably a 1200mm lens for approx 3 weeks in July. Anyone have any leads on where I could get one? Thanks!

Would 800mm work? I don't think 1200mm are available for sale (let alone rental) anywhere at the moment..

Yeah, the EF 1200mm probably isn't available for rent anywhere. There are very few of them that exist (more than 12 less than 20). Do an internet search. SI is said to own a couple as well as National Geographic. James Jannard the founder of Oakley is also said to have one. Your best chance to see this lens is to be at an event where Canon Professional Services is. They sometimes bring one with them.
The 800mm is probably the longest you can rent. I've shot my 600mm with a 2X teleconverter for a 1200mm f/8. If your going for long and have a one series body, that's the best combination that still maintains some autofocus. A 1.4x on a 800mm is just a little shorter at 1120mm f/8. The image quality on the 1.4x/800mm combo is probably going to be better though. I don't have any experience with the 800mm lens though.

If you want a 1200 for 3 weeks you have to have some serious leverage with CPS and rent it through them...
Or happen to know Jannard :p
Probably best to go with 800 5.6

We actually pinged POTN members on this one, but didn't get so favorable of a response :)

If I were a multi-millionaire I'd buy one to say I owned one. My wife would kill me.
