Great shots. I like 2 the best.
Looks like the dog was having alot of fun. We had one of these dogs when I was growing up and they are a great pet.

We had one last our family 16 years. She is still terribly missed, possibly only by me, who knows. We got another to replace her, but my parents got rid of him when I left for the Navy.
Thanks for the memories, and wonderful pictures. Yes, they do love sprinklers and water...

Really nice captures ... I love the way the spray looks in the first one. The simple joy of dogs ...

As you can see in my avatar I own(or am owned by) a Border Collie. Interestingly enough, he HATES the water. I could never get photos like yours. Great shots!

First, thanks for all the kind comments. I have WAY too many photos of him - sort of a favourite subject for the last year - the daughters and wife know they can tell me to "STOP!".. but dogs, they don't know any better :D
I think this is an understatement!
Too much fun! Love the shots Bob. Post some more. :)
What lens did you use?
All three of those were taken with the 50mm 1.8.
Here is another with the same lens (at 1.8, and flash 550 EX) - he is watching and waiting for me to throw the ball - another classic BC trait:

I was just looking at Herderdog's profile, and we're in the same part of the world (I'm on Camano Island - Washington State - USA) - my BC has a lot to learn about herding, but he loves it (this shot is from last Wednesday, taken with a 35-350L - his first 'taste' of sheep :D ):

Hi Bob,
I am very familiar with where you are taking Sparc to do herding. The people there have been good friends for years.
I get up there from time to time--especially to the trials.
Hope to meet you there someday soon. I think there is a trial coming up in a month or so.
I can't wait to pick your brain about the cameras!
Sparc looks like he is having the time of his life, either doing the sprinklers or "Pulling a little wool"--(not to worry the sheep have lots).
Gotta be careful--you can get hooked on sheepdog trialing just as easily as you can cameras.;)
Here is a pic of my good old dog Bill. He was my open trial dog for many years---he is retired from competition now. I don't get too many pictures with both dog and sheep yet. I have a hard time handling the dog and shooting the picture. One can find themselves run over by the sheep too!!!
