300 f 2.8 or 500 f4

How do you travel with these lens on an airplane? Do you use the factory case? Does anyone have the dimensions of those cases? Still have not figured out which lens im going to get. Got the 6 GRAND, looking to burn a hole in my pocket soon. Going to Yellowstone end of May need info on how you travel with these lenses. Thank you again John

I have the 300 2.8IS & have found that traveling with it is no problem. I use a backpack (Eddie Bauer) bought from Target.
I've been able to fit the following 10D w/ grip, 300 (w/ hood reversed), 135L 2.0, Canon TC's 1.4 & 2x, 28-135IS, 50 1.8, 420EX & other misc.
I always carry-on, the only thing that gets checked in is either a tripod/monopod.
