hi all,

i recieved an HP LP2475w recently and calibrated it with spyder 2pro. i know that this isn't the most appropriated calibration device for a wide gamut screen but i would think it could get me in ball park range. i have set my brightness/contrast to 17/75 RGB to 202/183/179. Most images look great however some of them that have blue like the picture below ( in the sky) look purple-ish. Even all the links @ http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/hp_lp2475w.htm look purple on this screen. however when i drag the browser or image over to my 15" macbook pro screen they look blue..

Reds and greens seem to "pop" a little too much but at least they still look their color

any suggestion on something i'm doing or not doing.. do i have a faulty screen?

ok, noone responded but if anyone is curious about why my monitor is doing this i found the solution. If you have a wide gamut monitor you need to use a color managed browser such as firefox v3. i was using Safari witch doesn't color manage.

you have to enable color management in Firefox V3 by typing in the address bar "about:config" witch will then bring up a filter page. Type "gfx.color_management.enabled" in the filter line and then double click it until you change the status to "true" then restart firefox.

http://www.gballard.net/psd/go_live_page_profile/embeddedJPEGprofiles.html is a great site on web browser color management.
http://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/645679/999999 here is another very informative thread on the topic

It also says that safar for windows Vista is color managed. i don't understand why safari for mac wouldn't be either, unless i'm reading it wrong.

Safari is color managed however, but it can only do so for tagged images. Firefox assumes non-tagged images are sRGB while Safari uses the default color profile. This is a known issue and the here is a link to more info on the Firefox trick.

i forgot where i read it from but was instructed to lower all levels to something like 180 and calibrate from there. This "should" have given me a smoother calibration since your not pushing all the colors to near max.

How true this is i don't know but i'm leaving it until i get my spyder3 elite
