I see threads on what did you buy or sell, but nothing on losing items. And lets face it, we all lose things ;)

Ill start. I managed to lose 14GB of memory cards (out of my total 18GB) some how in the process of moving. The funny thing was my camera gear was the first thing that I moved, and I put into my new bedroom 2 days before I moved the major things over. Ive searched high and low, in the trash and nothing. Very hard to take my new 50D out for a stroll with only 1 4GB mem card.

I think I'm about to lose my sanity. Do I keep my 1D Mark III or switch to a 5D Mark II?

I lost the battery charger for my 400D. I hunted high and low for it, tore the whole house apart and still couldn't find it. I bought a new one from ebay in the end, as soon as it arrived in the post, I found my old one... in my camera bag

Thsi may be hard to believe, but last month I lost a 1DMKIIN !

I had just colelcted it from Fixation to have the shutter replaced (£300) and when I changed tubes on the way home, I jumped off leaving the bag there!

How stupid was that!

Thanks heavens for Insurance as I now have a MKIII, and cash left over to go towards a 5D MKII.

I have lost several things. The last thing that I lost was the hood hat off of my 70-200L. But it was so windy that day that port-a-potties were blowing over.

When I purchased an extended eyepiece, I remember putting away the original eyepiece somewhere. I searched for it everywhere, but I just couldn't locate it.

Recently, a couple 1D MkII eyecups, damn things kept falling off.

Several years ago, a CF wallet with 6 2gb cards in it.....fortunately i had already transfered all the images from them onto my laptop. What sucked is that was before they were so damn cheap, cost me a bundle to replace them.

I've lost my spark (such as it was).

I've been known to leave a tripod or two laying around, but nothing lately. (knock wood)

I do a lot of late evening shots. I need to be sooo organised with my kit shooting as it gets dark, easy to leave a filter on a beach in the dark.

I lose things constantly. Currently lost are my tweezers and 2 lens caps. I know the tweezers have nothing to do with camera equipment but it's bugging me.
My sanity has been lost for many years.
I lost my train of thought earlier too. It crashed into a ravine and I'm not sure that it is salvageable.

Lens cap to my 70-300. Had the camera around my neck while staning on an observation deck overlooking a bird/marsh area. Bumped it and the cap popped off and fell right through the crack like dropping a dime into a puggy bank from 3 feet away. A second or two later....I heard the tiny "splash".......my brother who saw the whole thing found it quite amusing...

What, no recent ex-virgins here? :)

My 350D eyepiece has been missing for quite awhile now. I also lost the quick release plate for my 486RC2 ballhead. I decided to go without the eyepiece, but I gotta have the QR plate - it's on order now.

Three eyecups: one on the 1D Mark II and two on the XT. A few front caps as well; I like pinch caps since they're easier to manipulate with a hood on, and I can't seem to find my Canon caps...

This is not recent, but it bears repeating..

A lot of my lenses use a 77mm lens cap. For some reason, I was losing them. I would go to the camera store, buy a replacement, and promptly lose another one. This went on for months. I finally got frustrated, and ordered 6 of them from B&H. I figured I'd get ahead of the game, and have a few spares.

Shortly after they arrived, I started finding the missing lens caps here and there. I found one in a jacket pocket, another under the car seat, and yet another one in the trunk of the car. One by one, they all came back. Before I knew it I had bunches of 77mm lens caps. I'm sure I must have 9 or 10 of them in the drawer where I keep odds and ends. I also have several rear caps, accumulated in much the same way.

I'm not getting rid of them, though. As soon as I do, I'm sure I'll probably start losing them again.

Speaking of lens caps...does anyone else do this: Whatever lens I am taking off, I always put the rear element cap on the lens I am removing from the lens I am putting on. I've always wondered if some people actually keep the correct rear caps with the correct lenses.

I'll betcha there's quite a few people on this forum that are anal enough to make sure they keep them with the proper lens though. They'd hate to mix an L rear cap with a kit lens rear cap. :)

The only camera gear I've lost lately has been a lens cap.. But I lost my wallet on vacation to Gettysburg a while back :(

I think I've also lost the appreciation for the value of money... My 70-200 F4 is cheap compared to L lenses, but I paid more for it than my friend paid for his car lol
