Hi all,
I'm not sure what type of flowers these are...they grow in a garden on the side of my house. My wife bought the plant last year, and I've been shooting it with some regularity.
Since I just got my 20D today, I thought I'd post a pic. It was taken with the 17-85mm lens, ISO is 1600. It was taken this evening, before the sun was fully set.

Hey buddy... looking good.
Did you do any post processing?
Also what are the camera's parameters set at?

Let's see...since I had only been able to handle the camera for something like 20 minutes before other commitments dragged me away for a few hours, I want to say it was on the "Full Auto" mode. Basically, what I call Mommy Mode. About the only post processing I did, IIRC, was a little touch of USM and a resize.
hmm...now I'm puzzled... I don't recall if I did the USM on this one or not... good grief...I'm too young to be suffering from CRS... (Can't Remember Stuff) ;)

I was amazed at how clean the ISO1600 pictures looked. I'll have to check out the ones I took at ISO3200. They've got to be less noisy than my Minolta.

I like it....I'm jealous, we have flowers popping up (like what I call Easter Lilies=Daffodils) but none are blooming.....I want spring!!!
Really nice picture tho. Kind of reminds me of a Purple version of a Black Eyed Susan?

These flowers are called Osteospermum or The African Daisy. Very nice shot from a very nice camera. Enjoy

oh yeah , iso 1600, and iso 3200 are very very useable on the 20D .. I also noticed, that the better the lens quality the better the high iso performance. Try iso 1600 outside, or inside with your 70-200...
They get even better if you neat image them.

Very pretty flowers and a real good pic. Nice composition. Let us know if you find out what they are - my garden could do with some of that colour.

I'm going to try that this weekend...if it doesn't rain too much.

I've got the Noiseware plugin for PaintShopPro, which works wonders with the noisy output from my Minolta. It should have an easier time with the 20D files... :D

I don't know where you'd pick up flowers in the UK. My wife bought the plant last year at our local Costco. It's a very prolific plant, and survives in our hot/dry climate quite well. Good thing, too. :)
