No vip status, but I do have media credentials. I shoot down at the Joe on a regular basis, for the Wings' and another publication.... Thanks for the comments!!!

ditto!:D
Great shots, I've never seen so many great goal/save shots from a single game. You have obviously perfected your timing from the corners. Fantastic captures!

5th angers me to tell you the truth, I mean look at that - just morally, ethically wrong on so many levels - how could a mouse hole go unused? Where's the media? Sabres media is full every game with a waiting list, for shame Detroit media, for shame.

You will happy to hear that the game was over when I shot that image, the photog had started walking up the stairs........:)

PHEW! That makes more sense...
I was watching the Sabres the other day and they kept showing where Rob Ray usually stands - it was empty because his wife was having Rob Jr. However, usually there's a photog in there with him plus a video guy. Neither were there leaving the space empty all period. It made me sad :( ha

That is a great shot of the puck sneaking through Mason's legs with Holmstrom screening in front, and the timing on the first shot (Mason's two-pad slide) is awesome too!
You didn't happen to get a shot of Conklin's amazing glove save from across the net, did you?

Too bad you weren't able to get Conk's amazing diving glove save, but if I remember correctly that was in the first period and I believe that you would've been on the other side of the rink. Outstanding shots regardless! Great job!

I was able to get a shot, but since I was unable to get Peca in the frame totally, I was not real happy with the shot...... but here is what I was able to get........

Dang, that one sure was close to hitting it spot on. That save was sooo sweet I think it'd be hard to appreciate in a picture though. Peca would've had to be either frame left or completely out of the frame which would be an impossible angle.
How about one of Peca's face after getting denied! ;)

To the OP, TTurrill...
I go to CBJ games all the time and can't help but notice the roof is rigged with tons of massive strobes, and I can't help but seeing them pop when there is high action.
Being that you are media credentialed, and I see some wicked shadows in that final shot you posted of Peca - I'm assuming they hand you a hot shoe trigger of some type when you walk in? Am i anywhere close to correct on that?
How does that all work? : )
Thanks for the great shots!

How the strobe light deal works is as follows, the Red Wings have a set, Sports Illustrated another, plus both local major papers have a set. The NHL has a limit on the set of strobes per arena. I shoot for the Wings when the team photographer needs assistance or isn't able to make the game. Normallly if you rent those strobes it is 500.00 per game, plus sometimes they are not available for rent in some arenas and you will need a pocket wizard to trigger those strobes. Some other arenas may have different prices set and if you can use the lights, yes they will let you use the triggering device. Some arenas still are hard wired where you connect the plug to your hot shoe. That image had about 4 players around the net and was a heavy crop. Hope this helps to explain how all this madness works..... :)
