Some what of the nooby dig.user and have been working on my indoor shots with out flash. I had taken several of the guard dog and a colorfull pot of the wifes.
Looking for tips from you pros out there in forumville.... :p

The dog was shot in normal house lighting at 400 ISO, f4 and at 1/15 from a tripod..... good thing I have a loyal subject that will sit still. The pot was at 200 ISO,f4 and at 1/30. It is sitting in a book case with couple of 60w floods for down lighting.
I'm not sure if this is the place to post this kind of thing so if the mods want to move or delete have at it.
Thanks for looking and give me some pointers :)

I'd like to see the dogs eye sharp, & the 2nd shot doesn't look very sharp, either. What software did you use to work on these?

Moving the thread.

In the dog picture it looks like you focused lower on the carpet/dog's nails because most of the dog doesn't look completely in focus. You should make sure to focus on his eye. Which focus point were you using? Aside from that the dog looks to be exposed properly.

The vase doesn't look all that sharp. With slower shutter speeds perhaps use the timer or a remote?

pretty impressive gear for a self-proclaimed "nooby".

They are quite soft, especially for being on a tripod. The one with the dog, like someone else said, you need to focus on his eyes. And the upper left portion of the image is completely blown out, probably from the lights you were using. The second one is just completely OOF (out of focus) from what I can tell. Make sure your tripod isn't moving at all. Are you using a cable shutter release or a timer, or are you pressing the shutter button on the camera with your finger?
