I recently covered an event organised by asda (wallmart) at Bruntingthorpe Proving ground, the event is held every year and was allowed access as a press photographer in the aim of building up my portfolio

The event was a great success raising a lot of money for charity

here are a few of the images i took

I had to get this one as the children could get rides around the track and this little lad had his eyes covered the whole way round.........

I like the Noble shot best. I'm just wondering if the mini suffers oil starvation when driven like that :-)

How can I say this ,I think you can do better .

From looking at them(and not any exit data),the shutter speeds look to high, frozen wheels and all that, yet the cars are oof .
1,That is an immaculate Escort, but is not sharp enough for me ,and needs more room in front of the car ,it is an in between shot, and either needs to be pin sharp at front with blurred wheels,or just sharp for 3/4 of the car .
I can see it looks like it has just come from sharp ,almost hairpin right, and yet does not really depict that action for me.

2,A very boring shot of a nice car.No action.

3,A decent shot, but not quite sharp enough for me at front being very critical.

4,crop out JCB ,and you have good shot, and I like the passengers smiling and drivers concentration.

5,6 Not bad shots, rubbish ,cluttered distracting backgrounds.

7,Quite fun ,well observed.

8,Stock shot.

There you have it,
lol,

Mnay thanks for taking the time to comment, I really aprecciate it, I've only been shooting motorsport for just over 12mths and i'm learning and picking things up all the time, I'd much rather read comments like yours than no replies at all, at least then I can see where people think i'm going wrong, and where I can Improve

such as keeping an eye for cluttered backgrounds, and using slower shutter speeds, to add a better sense of action.

I know I can do better as you will see in future posts ( i hope ) but its also nice to see that some comments are pretty much on a par with what i've thought about them myself, nice to see that i'm learning and can see some of the faults myself and know that i am getting something right , just want to get out more and keep practising

Once again thanks for taking the time to comment mate

Jay,
I think we all learn hugely on this forum,as there are some very ,very talented togs on here, and in fairness some of the older threads or articles are brilliant .
Keep at it,and look forward to seeing more in near future.

Just to add something Jay.
Never forget that most of us,and definately me,do go out some days and just have bad days ,period, maybe a few good shots if we are lucky, and by that ,somedays I come back with 10 really good shots if I am lucky, maybe just one,but if that is a wallhanger, then the day has been 100% worth it.
Initially I found you seem to take stock shots, and after a while going back to places you think ,I already have a good one of that car or scene,so you start looking for unusual or outside the box shots, something differant to what most others take.
If you are really hard on yourself and your own work you will soon see the improvement, and for me that started when I started coming on forums like this one,and also going out with photographers way better than me ,who were also super critical of there own work and mine, and who's lack of response to one of my pictures told me more than ,good shot mate,if you follow my drift.
It's a bit like getting a part on the back from Ricky Ponting or Sir Alex F,then you know you have done good .
A quick rule of thumb I use is if they are not sharp at 100% blown up,then they are no good ,and camera lcds are only a rough guide ,at least on mine they are, having small screens.
