My harddrive crashed a couple weeks ago, and i just got it back, and its empty, i mean, empty!

So im working with my insurance company to help reimburse me for programs lost, and i need to know what i should be using to grab my photos off my memory card and all that. I assumed it was just a basic function of my computer, but i guess not, as im not able to get any photos on here, and i just did a photo shoot today and i need to get to work on them!!!

So if anyone could give me an idea of what i should be using, that would be awsome! Also, i got $699 to replace my CS4, but im hoping to find it cheaper somewhere else so i can spend the left over money on some new stuff for my camera, anyone have any good suggestions about that??? Thanks guys!!!

I'll assume that you have the CD that came with your camera. Start there, load all of the programs that are on the CD to your Hard drive. Once you have that completed you'll be able to off-load your CF card to the computer and view them, and do some post processing on the images if necessary.

From that point on you can slowly Reload the rest of your apps to the HDD. That's where you start from. What operating system are you working with?

My computer crashed once like that, when I got it back from the shop all software and photos had vanished. Just for a quick progam I downloaded Picasa's free version and during the process it ask me if I wanted it to search my computer and copy all pictures to Picasa. I said yes and what do you know....it found every single picture I had ever scanned, downloaded, uploaded or whatever. I was soooo happy! It would be worth a try.

The short answer is yes... but be careful not to count on Picsa 3 to find everything. Good luck.
