Finished a day of work (unrelated to photography), had my camera in the car, saw this land surveyor, and asked. Comments?

This looks like a studio shot.
Very decent. Maybe fill flash?

Fill flash, well only is possible if you take the flash. OK, so I took the camera and, for one time, left the flash at home. UGH! Oh well, such are the little learning lessons of life. No reflector either. Double UGH.
He was, however, standing beside a white utility trailor.

Looks like a perfect case for a sepia tone. Sorry, but my sepia toning skills are a little weak to say the least, but you get the idea.

Yea needs fill flash and would work best as sepia. BnW makes it too grey.
In the color pic his face is really pink. Was he like that in real life?
Other than that, for what you had to work with it looks really good.

A real cowboy. Good capture. -2 FEC fill flash would have been nice to pick up his eyes.

So this is what Geraldo Riviera does during the day!

OK, the gaunlet has been thrown down -- an appropriately so.
So, I went back to the proverbial drawing board. Sepia. Also used PS's Highlights/Shadows to try to fix the lack of a flash somewhat.

I like the sepia tones, but I'm not crazy about the border you applied on the redos. These are great pictures, and I think the border takes away. Maybe you could do a sepia toned border if you wnat a border.

The sepia definitely looks the best. The B&W is too grainey.

I, and only I it seems, like the original in B&W. I like pictures of characters in their natural setting. He's supposed the be shaded by his hat, so I don't think it needs fill flash. A little background would have been nice, tho.

Great capture. Good thing you had your camera. ;)
This guy would fit right in with some of the guys I have breakfast at the local cafe with on occasion. They can sure tell some stories.

CJM,
Nice shot. You, too, carry your camera.
This guy, Wade (e.g., the cowboy) was in Shelby, North Carolina. [Ed. Note: Now there's a happening place!]
