For those of you who shoot events like H.S sports or other sporting events where you have a large number of files, what is your turnaround time? I usually tell parents 48hrs or by the end of the next day.

Turn around time for what product exactly?

If your talking galleries. A single game I say 48hrs, but always up have them up early than 24 hrs. If I get a tremendous amount of interest I tell them 24 but have them up within 8 hrs. For a weekend tournament I tell them Wed. but I start uploading the first night and every night of the tournament. By the way I cull but I don't edit and only crop if its absolutely necessary to make it a good shot.

Usually 1 to 2 days to get them on-line. Only taking good shots instead of going burst crazy helps turn around time. Print time depends on when the order was placed in relation to when I upload but usually 7-10 days.

Patience is something that the consumer does not have. I try to get highlights posted within hours. The remainder are uploaded ASAP. I find that the biggest impulse buyers happen right away-- when there is a delay--the sales go down.

I usually have galleries up with in a few hours but all I do is cull and upload. I don't color correct, crop or do anything to the shots until after an order has been placed.

Hmmm. I'm wondering if I upload them too late. The problem I've having is that I edit, process and crop the pictures and upload the ready to print pics. That takes me a while. I should probably get them up quicker.

I don't crop until printing and only use ACR's auto correct. The final touches are done when the order is placed. I don't want to spend time working on something that will never sell.

The problem I have with not cropping right away is what if the parent doesnt buy because the subject seems too far away in the fram? and its because its not cropped?

I get scared of the same thing Ruben, not cropping first. I don't trust the parents to understand that this will turn into a good shot if they buy.

I save time by culling heavily, then do all the work on just my best shots before I upload. For a basketball team of 8 kids, I'll only post 30 or so shots. I try to post a few good ones of each kid, and keep my gallery small. Who wants to look through 10 pages to find their kid anyway? Get some up quick, 1-3 hours, then add more later if you want. It's rare that a parent will buy all of your shots anyway, they usually just pick the best 1 or 2.

In my experience, my web stats have a huge spike every game night, then drop way off the next day. You gotta get something up quick. I'm uploading the first game while I process the next. Especially for basketball, when it's 10:00 pm before I get home. I tell everyone to check the web tomorrow, but the stats still show that they look as soon as they get home.

When you work on each pic like that you end up spending a lot of time on shots that never sell, so all your doing is wasteing your time. If your worried about the crop put a note at the top of the gallery that says "customer may indicate crop when ordering" or something like that. Similar to what I did on this gallery. It's never been much of an issue with me but then again I mainly shoot with a 400/2.8.
