Hello all,
I just bought a Rebel XS and joined this forum soon after. When I joined the message I got ended with, "May your ducks be sharp and L's red". What exactly does this mean? I don't own any L lenses, but am guessing that the L's on these lenses are red? If that's true then I'm half way there. What's up with the ducks?
Also, aside from this forum, what are some other goods ones that I should check out? How about good RSS feeds to subscribe to?
Thanks,
John

You won't need any other forum than this one....at least if you are looking for the best information on Canon gear. Spend a few minutes looking around here and you will see why there is no need to go elsewhere.
You can check out "What the Duck (http://www.whattheduck.net/)" for some chuckles.
As for the ducks here....shooting ducks is a long standing tradition guaranteed to bring you good fortune with your new camera gear...go shoot a duck and post it for happy shooting!
Canon L lenses, the top of the line gear....feature a red ring and a big red L. Welcome to POTN...enjoy your stay.

There are tons of ducks on the island...there are even a couple of duck farms (http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=9901E5DD133FF932A15751C1A9659C8B 63) out there....look around...you might be surprised.

Yea, I'll look ;-) I actually live pretty close to the city line, but I might get lucky. Hey, actually there is a restaurant in my town called "Lucky Duck" no lie.
I have another question regarding the forums. What does it mean "C&C welcome"? Is that comments and criticism?
Thanks,
John

Central Park is a good starting point. Lots of them along the Hudson. Guarantee you can find a duck or two in Chinatown. Happy hunting!

Plastic ducks, rubber ducks, cotton duck.....they all count. Moving ducks score higher, but a dead duck is still a duck.

"May your ducks be sharp and L's red!"
I like this message.
But please can you keep a secret?
I am a sinner because I am a Nikonian - not undercover though.,
And - just for myself - I must "fix" or modify your saying to:
"May your geese be sharp and your L's gold"
I live in Greensboro, NC - plenty of geese in the southern states and Nikon lenses carry a golden line or so they say!
Whatever the birdies, the thing is, I have been able to learn tons of things and add many tech stuff to my bags of tricks that I further pass to my non English speaking audience and visitors in my blogs.
Great source of information
Great forum
or both!
Best,
ALFONSO

I took the ducks comment to refer to the notion that when someone gets a new camera or lens and doesn't have anything to try it out on, they head to the nearest park and take pics of ducks?
