Today, our lesson was to get out and take shots of random people, without them noticing us. My best three. Comments? Please?
All taken with my NEW nifty fifty, ISO 100, f/ 1.8

Nicely done I'd say (but I am no pro) :)
I like the last 2 the most. The first pic is cool, but too much going on maybe?

If that red car wasn't there... oh well, thanks for looking :D

I don't like #1 for two reasons - it seems to have a color balance problem. It looks too purple. It is also too far away from the subjects to qualify as a people picture.
#'s 2 and 3 are good, successful shots meeting the initial objective.

#3 gets an "A" from me. Nicely done.

#1 is purple because I made it purple. Went for an indie/vintage look.
Thank you, Swing :D

Real nit-picky here
#1 has three people, it would be better with one, in terms of composition
#3 wish the subject were a little closer to the edge of the frame and the depth of field was a little shallower.

Well, I couldn't get closer to him, as I mentioned before, I had my nifty fifty on, not some fancy zoom lens, and I think the DoF is just about right here.
#3 was taken without thinking, we had little time and I wanted more photos, so I couldn't wait for just one person to walk by, because this was taken in the center of Zagreb, the capital city.
I just love my nifty fifty :D

Nice work... "get out and take shots of random people, without them noticing us." sounds a lot like street photography to me, and a 50mm lens is a classic length for street photography, in that respect I don't mind that they are a bit wider than some would want over here...
But you can learn so much more from and about people if you just get closer, get some conversation going, and than take a picture... I think that's the whole essence of street photography, being on the street and knowing the street...

i'd like 1st a lot one if there was enough of it to do some cropping like this:

and I also took a liberty of levelling it a little bit :) [1 degree CW]
