I am wanting to do the ring shot where the ring stands in the crease of a book and makes a heart in the shadow. Any tips on making the ring stand up? I tried once and couldnt get it to balance for the life of me. Ill see if I can find a sample photo incase my description was not clear.

Position the ring, then get someone to hold the book up to the light and close slightly. On that pic I can see a bit of tape on the left side. Double sided tape?

Good spotting with the tape! A remote speedlite would be ideal to set this up.

Tape might work. I was hoping for something you couldnt see in the picture. I guess I could edit it out in ps.

If you position the tape carefully underneath - it won't need much - you shouldn't be able to see it. On first glance at the above photo, you don't notice the tape.

You could always lie it down on the crease. Just have to reposition the flash.
