I am very new!!!! This was my first time shooting, my son didn't want to have his pic taken and my daughter was crying and trying to grab the camera. These are not edited and this was the first time I have ever shot in manual. I know I have a lot of learning to do, I just thought some c and c would be beneifical.

They are blurry and I had the fill light in front of him.

40D, 28-135mm, basic cheap strobe lights.

Hello doublehmom, welcome to the journey of photography. For not wanting to have his picture taken, you got some cute shots anyway. You have a very nice lighting pattern on the second one. Definitely need more contrast. It looks a little soft though. What program do you use to process your portraits?

Thanks for the replies. I have no program to process my pics, I think we are going to go buy the 130.00 photoshop this weekend. I am going to move the lights to the basement so we can have more room to explore and play around with~very cramped in the bedroom full of toys. I am also going to order my speedlite next week, so maybe that will help a little.

You will see a wonderful difference once you get a program to process your images. It really is fun to play with. When first starting out, make small changes. You will notice your image getting better, keep making small changes until you feel you have gone too far, then go back a step.
