I took some maternity shots of DW and showed them to a few people at the office and now I have 3 people wanting and willing to pay for portraits. Now I am excited, but I don't think my work is client ready. I don't want to do this for free, as the time it takes to do the shoot and the PP could definitely be used for other things (ref - finish building baby furniture) plus I kinda like the idea of getting my work up on someone's wall for say 50 bucks or something. They can tell their friends, oh- ya so and so did this, and then before you know it, with some luck and practice I can buy that 70-200 which open up the door to shooting youth hockey :D.

Anyhow, here is the link to the maternity shots, let me know what I need to work on in order to command a modest fee.

Thanks!

You say that 3 people want to pay you for portraits, That means they think you're ready. Just be sure that you have a good understanding of lighting, and the gear if needed.
Remember, just because they may also refer people to you, that you can refuse a job if you think it's above your training. Better to refuse a job than to blow your growing reputation.

can you definitely get the shots, i.e. are your results repeatable? if so, have a blast and make some extra $$.
