Am brand new to all this. Recently got a Powershot S1 and have some questions.
First off - I got the impression from this forum that I can use filters with the teleconverter for the S1 if I attach the adapter, then scew on the filter, then screw on the teleconverter.
I have a friend with whom I discuss these things online - she says this shouldn't work, due to light bending, etc., etc.
Which of us is correct, please?

If you can use a filter in front of a lens or converter, then there's no reason why you can't use it at the rear. AAMOF, the bigger lenses used on the SLR-type cameras have filters that drop into a slot at the rear of the lens because otherwise, a very large and expensive filter would be required if the filter had to screw on to the front of the lens.

thanks so much for your response!
Now, on to the second stupid question.
I bought the S1 on line for a very good price from what I later found was a very unreputable dealer. As part of the "deal" they sweet-talked me into a BOGO sale on converters. They were upfront in these not being Canon, so I really wasn't expecting to much, but what I got has me mucho confused.
The teleconverter is 52 mm alright, but it is only about a third of the size of the actual Canon product (which I have since purchased). When I tried to use it, and zoomed out to the max. distance, I'd hear a "clunk" followed by an E18 (which I now realize is a lack of lens motion response.
This didn't always happen- only when I zoomed in a hurry.
So, is this product (which is labeled "professional digital" as big a scam as I think it is, or am I just too inexperienced to know what to do with it?
