Does sharpness degrade with longer exposures? Seems like my night shots aren't as sharp as I think they should be. Maybe it's the limitation of the lens?

Maybe it's smog? Looks hazy or something to me, I'm not sure if sharpness is an issue.

Yes it was a hazy day as you can from the cloud line clipping the top of the Sears Tower. I just thought it should be a little sharper. I did some sharpening in post, but when I do a 100% crop, it looks almost OOF.

Camera was on a tripod with the 2sec. timer activated. Ground shake is a posibility as i was on the concrete in between the main drive and an off ramp. The more I think about it, it may BE the lens's inability to AF properly in low light? I don't trust my eyes to MF in a low light situation. I feel I got a decent exposure given the situation, surrounded by street lights. I wanted a darker location to shoot from but parking in an opportune place along LSD was a nightmare. I had to illeagally park just to get this shot, lol.

And yes it was cold! We were in downtown shooting all day and the wind was howling in off of Lake Michigan. I knew I wanted to get this shot before we left that night and was hoping the wind would die down before we got to the lakefront. It did, but was still very cold!
