Not much for star gazing tonight with the bright full moon and clear as a bell . But the bright moon certainly produces shadows ......... or is that GHOST a lingering :eyes:shock::shock: !!!!

I did one of those too, Ron. Here's a moon-lit shot of our university's astronomy club meeting. 30 second exposure.

Your's is just as good as mine. I lightened it up in PP. I've attached an unused version to this post with no PP'ing so you can see how dark it started out.

It was a 40D, 30 sec, ISO 800 (might as well crank it up!), 24 mm, f 4

I didn't like the composition of the people in this one as much. I was trying to capture some action at the scopes, and the first one did that better. But note the stars in the sky. That's me with hands in pockets (it was cold). I would trip the shutter and run into the frame.

Yeah i see what you mean . I did the same thing only tried to also get a little blurr with movement but just couldn't move slow enough or the camera was slow picking it up .

Far out ! : ) It's good to see some of you had some great weather. In lower Michigan we've had nothin but clouds at prime veiwing time.

It was good weather and clear but also cold (30-deg) Not too bad as you up north but any clear cold night is usually cold ! But i also like the cold clear nights because some of those produce the best viewing and imaging times ! A few yrs ago i was out viewing Saturn and had the best viewing ever and it was 27-deg with 17-WC . Don't image much that cold , it kills batteries quickly :( .

The colder weather does seem to make for clearer, cleaner skys. And the cold doesn't bother me a whole lot,if I can go birding for 4 hours at 20degrees , gettin moon shots are easyer , time wise. It's the "days on end" with the cloud cover that gets me. Carry extra batteries and dress warm, it's all good :)
