Is having a casting call today from 12:00pm - 7:00pm at a local mall. I was wondering if you thought it would be worth my time to go down and pass out some cards and try to get some TFP work or maybe even a pay job or two. Do you think thay would be okay for me me to go down and pass some cards out? Or would I be making a fool of myself, like I'm begging for work. (whick I guess I kinda am:rolleyes:  ) I was also thinking, what are the chances of someone saying something to me (mall po-po) about passsing cards out.

You know what, play the numbers. I see it like this: It is an event where there will alot of women that are already in the mind set to pose
Quite a few will find that thier portfolios are weak or thin
Quite a few will be beginners that do no/little "pose for pay" work
All in all I think you ought to go because all it is going to cost you is some time and some cards. But be careful to not get run off by security. I get run off from alot of places.

This is exactly the type of situation where having caps and/or t-shirts with your business name come in handy. Then some of the pretty ladies might come to you!

Yes it should be ok!

Yes i think it would be worth it (if you can sell the fact that you are a great photographer that they can afford)

Don't bring a camera

All in all... Great idea!!

I really think it is effective when people make cards that are on photo paper with a shot they have taken, and add their business info.. vs a traditional business card

also might want to come up with some sort of price guide so they know about how much you charge

Thanks, I'm probably going to go down. That was my biggest concern was getting run off by security. But I guess all they can really do is tell me to leave

I absolutely have no idea about these situations you mentioned. But judging from the way you asked here, I'd say you will be fine.

Good Idea, They was just here in Vegas and I picked up a client who needed photos. Not only pass out business cards but if you have the resources make up a quick 4x6 advertising card with photos on it. Most of these ladies never had a zed card or pro photo work done so if you can impress them with your work I'm sure they'll come to you.

My clients father called me the day before saying all he needed was a headshot nothing fancy. Two hours later they was telling me they needed headshot, full body & swimsuit shot all 8x10's ready for the next day. So be prepared to shoot & print & have a price quote ready. The ladies also needs a video of themselves stating why they should be chosen.

Lucky for me I do everything within my home and have things setup from start to finish. It worked out well & from what I hear most of the girls brought in snapshots. I changed the background & lighting on every shot, We all know good photos captures the eyes & can make the big sell. I also started them off with the model release first. The $$$ was rated @ my normal portriat pricing & since the time was short I know I'll get it later but I have the Model release :) that means if she gets on the show that becomes good advertising for yourself.

Forget taking pictures, great place to pick up chicks ;)

Go for it, but only do one, either take pictures or date, never both.

I think it's a good idea.

What's "TFP work" though?

I know it's time for prints, but it's supposed to be no money/mutually beneficial relationship. But some other people suggested having pricing?
