It´s been a while since I edited these but if I remember correctly, the noise comes from the combination of high iso (1600 ish) shots pushed towards 3200 iso and sharpening. 5D produces very nice grain!

Very artsy ... lots of space for text and placement of major features, a very different feel than space created by "centering" because of AF points! :-) I like 'em.
