It was such a nice day that I just had to pop out of the office and get these. Bring on the summer! :D

Nice Shots (very nice!!), but I can't quite see "Big Ben!" Big Ben is heard every hour, but never seen as often!
Sorry for being pedantic, but Big Ben is the name of the bell (named after a heavyweight boxer, is the common story). The clock tower's official name is St. Stephens Tower. The other end of the Palace (of Westminster, to give the building its true name) is Victoria Tower. Victoria Tower is in fact, taller than St. Stephens.

Gotta love that deep sky! Great shots.
There's a great photo op on the bridge behind St. Stephens Tower looking towards the London Eye. Dusk is a great time with some traffic and pedestrians on the bridge.

Very nice shots indeed of Big Ben (St. Stephens Tower).
I wonder how many people call it St. Stephens Tower or have even heard of St. Stephens Tower for that matter ?
I prefer # 2 also.
Maybe because the London Eye looks so out of place. It is called the London Eye isn't it ?
I might consider straightening the verticals. ( Now who's being pedantic ) :)

he he! Thanks everyone for taking the time to comment :D
Andy D - yeah I know about the tower. I called it Big Ben because I figured that no-one outside of the UK would know about St Stephens. I didn't know where the name came from though - thanks for sharing!
alfa - You are right, there are some lovely shots from Westminster bridge. As it happens I did try to get some of those last week after work. However I spent too long in the St Stephens tavern (appropriately located right next to the tower). Although I did make it out in time to take the photos, they were all OOF as I forgot my camera was still on manual focus.
lomond- It was the contrast between the tower and the eye that I was trying to capture in #1. Does it work for you, or is it too busy?
CDS - yeah I just bought a polariser. This was my first outing with it! :D
Thanks again everyone! :D

No worries M8! Have you ever had a chance to go inside St Stephens? I got a chance a number of years ago, it's fascinating; they still use old copper coins to balance the clock mechanism (I'm talking about "Old" pennies!!)

Big_B is in deep trouble now. We British photogs spend hours in post processing to ensure that all our pictures of the UK have a sky that is either a uniform milky colour or at least full of clouds that look to be on the point of bursting. Big_B, in his hurry to publish has not performed these actions and consequently you now all see what the natural British sky looks like 364 days of the year (of course it always snows on Christmas day)
Despite your negligence these are simply wonderful.
