50 mm f/1.8 or 50 mm f/1.4 USM ?

I know both lenses are highly recommended and I have the 1.8 version myself. And it will go with my on my USA holiday next month.

However I am thinking if I should upgrade it to the 1.4 version?

My main use of this lens would probably be at the fantasmic show in MGM studies in Disney World. The show is a night show.

Will the 1.4 be a big improvement over the 1.8 ? What about AF in the low light condition? The 1.4 is USM so AF should be faster right?

i think just about everything is better w/ the 1.4 version - dont get me wrong though, the 1.8 version is mighty sharp and usually dead on, and outperoms any other $80 lens on the market

but build quality, speed and sound of the 1.4 are much better

Ok, took the plunge and bought it today.

What a difference, already when unpacking it the weight signalled something else than the 1.8 version.

Now I just need to go take some photos with it :lol:
