Another old shot...

This one is the transit of Venus across the Sun in 2004. Again, taken with my Sony Mavica FD-73 and Orion 4.5" reflector telescope with a solar filter.

Nice catch Jon. Unfortunately I didn't get at shot at that one, glad to see you did.

Cool shot! You caught it earlier than I did. Here are my shots:

I learned in one of my physics classes this will be happening again in 2012 so every body get ready!

Jon Foster,
SOrry, I didn't see your question sooner.

I used a very primitive method: I have an 8" Discover dob telescope with a self made sun filter (I bought the filter film then made a frame to attach to end of telescope).
Then I just used my Canon G3 which I just manually hand held to the eyepiece, checked the LCD and pressed the shutter. I took about 20 pictures, some come out good, some not so good.

Nowadays I own a Meade ETX 125 UHTC, the same old Discover dob, Canon 40D, meade Deep Sky Imager II... and haven't done any astrophotography :-)
Maybe I'll try some in the summer.

Everybody in your hemisphere that is! The 2012 one won't be visible from UK, but I was lucky enough to get a good view of the 2004 one, so I can't complain. My shots were on film.
