My fiancee and I really needed to get our engagement photos taken! We tried to get our friend to take them when it was a bit warmer out but that fell through so I decided that we would go to the park today and try to take some of us myself. I should have reviewed more on here to get better ideas, maybe next time! Oh yea it was around 25 degrees today and light snow. CC welcome! Don't be too harsh, the rest of the set can be seen on my Flickr in my sig.

Those are nice. I would like to have more posted of the two of you looking at the camera, though. And Congrats!

Thanks. I like that one. Now crop the thing so we can see your happy faces. :)

Anyone else have any advice? I'm supposed to do some maternity/couple shots soon for a friend.

The wedding forum has been quiet lately. Give it another day or so.

Hi, I think these are good for doing them yourselves....Great job! Lots of work involved in that!
I don't have any harsh words at all, I think you've done well
Advice....grab your friend, go out and have some fun....or find another friend, I am sure you can find someone on the forum who'd love to shoot you!

I think you did a very good job!
On #1 I might crop a bit closer just to get rid of the gray sky, I think the "split" background is a bit distracting.
I looked at your Flickr page and I really like the ones of you guys with your backs to the camera and looking over your shoulders.
Suggestion on "kiss" shots, and this advice was passed down to me from another wedding photographer, get the moment right before the actual kiss happens, it's usually much more romantic looking than the faces completely together. Although this might be difficult when photographing yourself. lol
Just a few thoughts.:)

1+2 have uninteresting backgrounds, the poses arent that strong so they suffer..
3 is a better pose, and its a semi ok background, not alot of blur on the backgrounds in these, im guessing aperture was around f9?
4 is a pretty decent ring shot :)

Thanks for the advice, I think most shots were taken at f5.6, I wanted to make sure we were both in focus, when I set the shots up I focused in on her eyes, then told her not to move, but I'm sure we did a little when getting into the poses. It was interesting to say the least. The ring shot turned out pretty ok too, I added some blur in post though to try to get a shallow depth of field.

Thank you for the comments, I will definitely take the "kiss" technique into account the next time I do any shots like this.

These are very good "self portraits" :)
I really like number 2 and 3 as they have captured the emotion of the moment. I would like to see a couple of closeups (head & shoulders) if you give it another go.

Thanks for the comment and advice. I have been looking through some other engagement sets on here and I definitely needed some more up close shots.
