I've got the main part of my business name picked out, but I need help with the ending. Which one of these do you like best:

Broken Flash Studio
Broken Flash Studios
Broken Flash Photography

I also considered using Broken Strobe instead of Broken flash, but I think most of the general public knows them as flash units, not strobes. I'm kind of shying away from Broken Flash Photography, because if you put a pause between Broken and Flash, it becomes Broken...........Flash Photography. Anyways..........what do you think?

Why are you using the word "Broken"? The word makes me think "non-operational", "not-working" or "defective," words that do not inspire confidence in potential clients.

The only place I can see the word "broken" fitting in a business name is something old or aged, that gives it a sense of history like a ranch or old timey restaurant.

If left to the three choices above, I'd choose "photography" as the phrase "Broken Flash" does not indicate what you do on it's own.

Just my opinion.

Why is there a burger place that goes by the name Fat burger? There is intrigue in the name. If I'm browsing the internet and have an option to go to brokenflash.com or joesmithphotography.com (no disrespect to joe smith photography if there is such a thing), I'm going to broken flash because it has character, and maybe that character portrays creativity and uniqueness, which is what all/most photographers strive for. Once their on the site, the pictures should sell the photographer, not the name. I tried to make that explanation not sound like I was being a jerk, but if it did......sorry about that.

In response to the question about whether I have a studio............I'll give you the cheesy answer, then the direct answer. Cheesy.........the world is my studio........direct answer...........no. :) I do agree that photography helps the client know exactly what I do, but I'm also worried about there being a pause between broken and flash so it sounds like Broken..........Flash Photography. But I guess that could make it a double entendre, which is kind of cool. Anyways.....i'm rambling. Thanks for your responses.

If you like "Broken Flash Photography" then that's all that matters really. I was just asking because the impression the name gives me is not positive. Fat Burger describes the food they serve, but if you read it as a double entendre it's a good pun. I don't see "Broken Flash" fitting any sort of word play. I'm not trying to suggest it's not a good name for your business, I'm trying to offer you some insight as to how your potential client might view the name. You may see it as edgy and creative, but some may see it otherwise.

If you don't have an actual studio, I would absolutely not use the word "studio" in the business name. It gives the impression that you do, and the first thing you may have to tell some potential clients is "no, we don't actually have a studio."

I don't see people reading "Broken Flash Photography" as "Broken Flash-Photography". But if that is a concern, you could add a hyphen as in "Broken-Flash Photography"

No studio? Then definitely don't use the word "studio" in your name. That's going to leave a bad impression on potential clients when they call you up and find out you don't really have a studio even though your business name says you do.

That leaves you with Broken Flash Photography. If your business logo clearly separates the words "Broken Flash" from "Photography" then I don't think you have to worry about people misreading it. If you still don't like Broken Flash Photography, then I'd seriously think about changing from Broken Flash to something else.
