It's more than adequate. Just remember though, it isn't very upgradable. Personally, I would build my own, but not because this computer you picked is bad - I just would want a different CPU, graphics card and motherboard. This computer will run the entire Adobe suite of CS4 without a problem. If I HAD to point out one flaw I would say it was the CPU, but that's nitpicking.

Yeah looks fine for me. The Q6600 chip is the current favourite of the nerds though, because it's easy to overclock.

It has been a number of years since I have owned an HP, and things might have changed, but the last I heard their support really leaves a lot to be desired. I have my computers built locally at a computer shop. The prices are competitive. They are much easier to upgrade. If you need any kind of repair or support, you do not have to ship it off, or talk to someone in another part of the world. Almost every town has a place that can do the same thing. You can even order a lot of the parts from Newegg and have them assemble it for you.
As for the computer you are looking at, I would suggest at least adding an external hard drive to keep your photos on. I do not like to keep my photos on my system drive.

A friend of mine is going through HP support at the moment, he says they're unhelpful and rude.
Don't put photos on an external drive, they're expensive and less reliable. Get another internal drive, and use external drives only for offsite backups. I just ordered a new 1.5TB drive for that, since my existing external backup drives were getting full.

Thanks everyone for the tips. I've always stored my photos on external hard drives. I thought that was the way to go, can you explain a little bit more why adding a second internal drive would be better?

Drives inside the computer are cheaper, a *lot* faster, more difficult to damage or steal, they're tidier, and they're generally cooled better which makes them more reliable. Enclosures are cheap too, and tend to fail.
I have three drives inside my computer - OS, general data, and images. I currently have two small drives as backup drives, but i've just ordered a 1.5TB drive and an enclosure to replace the smaller drives as offsite backup - I just got annoyed with having to move and plug in two drives each week. My new enclosure is E-SATA as well, so it's a lot faster than USB drives.

I went with a rebuilder at a local shop after my HP burned its power supply. My old hard drive installed in a Compaq with a Pentium 4 chip. $225. works fine.

As long as you're shopping NewEgg.com and prepared to spend around $900, consider this:
