SX1: Focus issue while zooming shooting HD video?

i've had my sx1 for a few weeks now, and i'm absolutely loving it. i've been shooting quite a bit of HD video with it, and overall, i'm pleased with the results. however, i've noticed that a lot of the times when i zoom in while shooting, it loses focus pretty easily. is there a way to prevent this? i've mostly been shooting video while set to AUTO.

any help would be appreciated.

If you zoom rapidly, the AF may take a little while to catch up. Is this what you're seeing? You might consider it as a warning that you're zooming too fast; a rapid zoom in or out can be a little disorienting to your audience. If you zoom slowly enough for the AF to keep up, they'll be much more comfortable.

I've seen this happen with a videocorder, too.
