Meet Leo, a healthy Great Pyrenese who is now around 120 pounds!
He lovesssssssss the snow!!!
I posted these pics in Critique section but did not get much response, and was wondering what you guys thought of the shots?
This being a more appropriate section to post it in too. (There are so many wonderful animal pictures in this section, I love it!!!)
Cute, not so cute? Bad angle? Thanks :)

Great shots! The first one is pretty cute, it's almost like he's trying to convince you that he hadn't really chewed the wood---kind of a "who me?" look. The second shot shows great detail, although personally I love to see their eyes.

What a cute pup! I like #1 the best of the three posted. It's a little dark but it's the cutest pic.

There are a lot of us who are uniquely UNqualified to give meaningful critique. But I can tell you what I like. :D

The first one is adorable, you got the eyes giving their puppy look. I would have liked to see more of the steps too. Perhaps a vertical shot?

The second one, yes I'd like to see the eyes, but I love the snow flakes on his head. You can see them and nearly feel them too. Beautiful pose and the coloring in it makes me think he's a saint. I like this one quite a bit. My favorite type of exposure....white puppy on a white background.

Got any of him grown? :D

Great looking dog! I like #3 best. I think if #1 was lighter and more colour to make it pop a bit more.

Thanks guys for the comments! I'll try to get some more pics of him up, he's not always "co-operative" though... likes to run around and sniff everything, not sit still and pose for the camera.. go figure huh.. ;)

Pyr's are notoriously independent. Maybe that's one of the reasons they are my favorite breed

Howaboutnow, cute pup! I couln't help but get a laugh between the similarities here...

Your pup's name: Leo. My pup: Messi. We named him Messi, after Leo Messi, a striker for Futbol Club Barcelona (he's the best striker in the world).
And of course they look alike. When he was younger, as in this pic, we would always get asked if he was a great pyrenese (spelling?). He is actually a Boxer/Husky mix!Anway, here's my boy! And, man 120lbs!!! I couldnt imagine!!!

smokskrene, thank you for sharing that wonderful picture of your pup Messi! He definitely looks like a GP!! Too funny!

His coloring, and the long hair is so similiar, wow! Even the crimpled looking hair at the top of his ears, Leo has that too now!

On Leo, it's so adorable and he gets so poofy looking after a bath, but looks yellow still compared to snow.

Looks like Messi was having fun there, hehe, his name suits the picture :) Too cute!

I'll have to find some "similiar" pics to yours and post it soon!!

Really like the second shot.

Hey you'd had more comments than I have with my Spanish Water Dogs, not a single person has commented, he, he!

Aaawww, so cute. Love the furry ones. :D

I like the 1st and 3rd pics. Very cute.

I thought the 2nd shot was a little close and sorta cut off by the ear.

I loved the first one. Here's my quick edit, hope you don't mind. Just a bit of shadow/highlights, highlighted the eyes and unsharp mask - a two minute job. Great shot - such a cutie!

Howaboutnow, how old is Leo now? There is a GP that lives near my house, he is a monster!! His bark is so deep that you almost dont hear it! He looks like an over grown puppy! This is what Messi looks like now, hes 7 months old. He lost his "fresh out of the dryer" look, and has darkend along his back...still has the Bower goggly eyes though.

The second picture of your dog is really good. Interesting angle, sharp focus, good exposure, good white balance (as far as I can tell anyway).

The first shot is missing the most important element of photography - LIGHT. Without light, the shot seems flat. You need light to find the edges of your subject.

It's already been mentioned before, but you gotta shoot in RAW if you already aren't, so you can slide your white balance around non-destructively after you shoot. I also think I would bracket exposures if I were shooting in snow, just to be sure I nailed a correct one.

Look forward to seeing some more stuff from you. Awesome looking dog :)

What an adorable picture, especially with the red scarf! lol Thank you for sharing :) I love the way his ears look, they are sticking up like that!

Leo is now almost 2 years old, and he's pretty much fully grown. Right now he's got a super thick coat since he stays outdoors and it's really cold out! It's -17 degrees Celcius right now.

Leo too used to be much whiter but has darkened out a bit and looks more mature. He doesn't really look like a puppy anymore, and will have to get a recent pic up soon! :)

Thanks for the kind words :)

I definitely need to LEARN how to shoot in RAW format first, if only time was something I had more of!!!

And looking forward to seeing more stuff from you too! And baby pics!
