My wife and I just had our 25th anniversary:D .

Thought I would preserve the roses I got for her....

Any suggestions for improvement?

It's a keeper. Now take another filling a third of frame with a single rose - same settings. Then repeat the shot of the whole bouquet but try f/11. You can do this easily in Av mode or manually. If the shutter speed is too slow to prevent shake from blurring the image, you can bump the ISO to get a proper exposure. See how they turn out and post them.

I agree, try stopping your lens down as suggested & you will like the effect!

Nice pic! and Congratulations! Many more!

at 25 years, it's the wife that's a keeper, even if the photo is great. continue to buy roses. works for me (on 24th year).

The picture is lovely, and creates a nice feeling. You might try a different mood, but it's a matter of taste. The flowers are young and not spread out from buds yet, and there's lots of space between them. The bright green of the leaves & stems deflects attention from the flowers themselves. The bright background also detracts. As the flowers age a little, they'll spread and seem fuller & richer. Below are from a recent wife gift (no occasion, just a gift). I also bounced the flash off the ceiling, but turned the f-stop down to 11 to get most but not all in focus. (d-rebel ISO200, 1/200sec, tamron 28-75mm lens at about 40mm -- sigma500 super flash) So that's my offering -- it's a different mood and might not be what you were after.

congratulations....

Happy anniversary. The picture just screams read, its nice but it could be a little better. Try taking the picture with the manual settings and no flash, just natural light might make it more better. Best of luck!

Congratulations on 25 years of marriage. We all make fun of being tied down by being married but where would we end up without the wife. You are a lucky man.

I would concur that you should stop this shot down so that you have a greater depth of field.

This definitely needs more depth of field. Zoom out then move closer. Get out the tripod and close down the lens. You may need to move back some and crop.

Good luck and congratulations.
