Hi! Sorta new here at this part of the website. Candid shot of an elderly couple enjoying Christo's "The Gates" last February.

It's up now, what exactly was that?
I saw another picture like that not too long ago also.

"The Gates" was a public art exhibition by the artist Christo and his wife, Jeanne-Claude. They erected 7,000 gates draped with saffron-colored panels of fabric through out New York's Central Park. It caused quite a stir, locally and internationally. I also went to see what it was all about and while it's not much to speak of, it was pretty nice in person. A few million people, like the couple in the picture, came to check it out as well.

Yup, Christo and Jeanne-Claude do have a propensity to use fabric in their large scale art. They have wrapped a bridge and the shores of several small islands in pink fabric in the past. In "The Gates" at Central Park, he erected these saffron banners over some 23 miles of paths and walkways, with the help of several hundred volunteers. It transformed a wintry, barren Central Park into a happy place as millions of people meandered through. Kosmos, we could have passed each other without knowing it :)

Hey cool, they were talking about that on the radio recently. Thanks for posting a picture so I can really understand what they were describing.
